“Well… um… yeah. Bye.” I did that move where you go to turn around, but then stutter and turn back, THEN finally turn around completely to walk away. I had taken two steps when I felt him grab my wrist. Actually, I thought he’d be so shocked that I’d get at least six steps away.
“Really Alex? C’mon…”
“Sorry! You know I’m not good with these types of moments! You should be a man and step up to make the first move…” Like I said, I don’t think I have a single romantic bone in my body.
“Like this?” He pulled me into a hug. “I’m really gonna miss you.” I hugged him back/
“I know… I’ll miss you, too.”
“I love you, Alex.”
“I love you, too.” We pulled apart and looked at each other for a moment, before he kissed me goodbye.
*FFà 3 Months*
It was three months later; my birthday. Jessica, Paige, and Rachel were sitting on the couch watching Dora the Explorer while I was pwning at Mario Kart on my DS. It was almost midnight which meant my birthday was almost over. Jessica looked over at me. “So Alex… how does it feel to be twenty?” I shrugged.
“It honestly kinda sucks. I’m not a teenager anymore. Now I’m an adult… and old!” All three of them laughed.
“You would complain about that!” Paige giggled. I nodded in agreement.
Suddenly, all of them looked at the TV and screamed “Swiper, no swipey!” which is usually what they did when they watched Dora… they played along. The clock struck midnight; my birthday was over. Or so I thought it was…
A couple minutes after midnight, there was a knock on the door. “Come in!” I yelled not taking my eyes off the game. The door burst open and in walked 14 smiling guys.
They all screamed, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALEX!!!” I looked at the clock, then back at them.
“Psh… FAIL!” The four of us girls burst out laughing while the guys stood looking confused. “You guys are a couple minutes late… nice effort though!” I added when I saw the looks of disappointment.
Jessica, Paige, and Rachel went back to watching Dora. Then came the screaming… “COME ON DORA!!! IT’S RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU! DON’T ASK US, YOU’RE THE ONE WITH THE MAP!!” The guys looked at the TV.
“Dora? Really…?” Donghae asked, snickering.
“We told you guys we did this… you either didn’t listen or chose not to believe us.” Jessica (blatantly) replied, but then stood up to hug Donghae. Leeteuk walked over to Paige while Henry sat next to Rachel on the couch and gave her a hug. I saw Hangeng coming over to me, but I held up my hand to let him know to wait.
“Hold on one second… oh… oh… EAT IT YOSHI! Woot!”
“What are you doing?” he asked me.
“Pwning at Mario Kart… I just passed Yoshi and… AW, C’MON! Lame!”
“Now what…?” Rachel wondered.
“Yoshi just used the blue freaking turtle shell on me!”
“Haha…” Jessica started. “You exploded!”
“Shut-up Jessica…” I turned my attention to Hangeng. “I missed you…” I said to him, but then turned towards all of the guys. “I missed all of you… except YOU, Heechul.” I pointed to him. “I can’t fricken stand you!” This made everyone laugh, except for Heechul, whose mouth dropped open. I gave some more hugs out to the guys, then sat back down and continued my game.
Rachel, Jessica, and Paige had turned off the TV and were talking with the guys when Paige yelled out, “Let’s go out for food!!!”
“Really? At this time of the morning…?” Ryeowook didn’t look so sure.
“Yeah! This is
“Alright then... Let’s go!” Sungmin shouted. They all got up to go, but I stayed where I was with Hangeng beside me.
“Are you guys coming?” Leeteuk looked over at us.
“Did you guys say Mexican food?” I wondered.
Rachel looked over at us. “Yes…”
“Then hell no…! I hate Mexican food.”
“What about you hyung…?” Henry asked Hangeng.
“I think I’m gonna stay here.”
“Okay…” Jessica replied. “Alex! Two things…”
“One… Don’t set the house on fire…”
“And two... I already loaded the dishwasher… Go start it for me?” I already knew where this was going…
“Ah, damn it…” This always happened… I set the game aside, jumped up and ran to the kitchen. I threw some soap into the machine and turned the knob to normal. I pushed the start button.
Jessica must’ve heard the machine because she yelled “Thank you!” before shutting the door to leave. I continued my game."Why aren't you going Hangeng?" I asked smiling as Hangeng sat down on the couch next to me.
"Because you aren't going... The only reason I came out here is to celebrate your birthday with you." I laughed and shook my head.
"Too bad, you missed my birthday by about five minutes." He put his arm around me.
"Ah well…" I rested my head on his shoulder while he stroked my hair. I was still playing Mario Kart, because I was pwning total noobs.
"Oh, you son of a bitch…!" I yelled at my game.
"What?" He asked, confused. I hope he didn't think I was talking to him.
"Oh sorry...Yoshi made me fall off the
"Alex," he said softly, "I do believe I love you." I glanced up at him.
"Excuse me? Are you serious?" He nodded. I was immediately filled with a warm feeling. Butterflies would be an understatement.
"I love you too." I managed to say back. I’m still not good with romance. He leaned in and kissed me. I turned my game off, knowing I couldn't finish it now. "I'll be right back." I said smiling. I walked into my bedroom. I was supposed to be "putting my DS away", but I was actually making sure my hair and makeup were good. I was looking for my eyeliner when Hangeng walked in.
"Liar." He said, grinning.
"Hey now…" I said laughing as he walked into my room shutting the door behind him. "How about you try being a girl once... Then we'll see who the liar is." I walked over to the window and was soon joined by Hangeng. "It's such a nice night. No wonder they all went out. Wanna go do something?" I asked, sighing. He wrapped me in a hug.
"Yeah... or we could spend the night in here…" I looked at him, confused.
"What are you talking about? It's so nice outside..." I looked back outside. I heard him quietly snickering at me. Then I finally processed it. "Oh..." I said stupidly. He laughed louder this time.
"Dork." He scoffed at me.
"I prefer the term “nerd”, thank you very much." He rolled his eyes.
"Sorry, nerd..." I smacked him playfully.
"Shut up." He grinned, brushed the hair out of my face, and kissed me.
*The next morning*
I woke up with the sun smacking me in the face. "Ugh...whoever invented the sun should go die!" I mumbled, half asleep. I heard laughter, then a familiar voice.
"Someone isn't a morning person." I looked over and saw Hangeng's smiling face.
"I am not a morning person…” I stated very matter-of-factly. “I’m also not an afternoon person or a night person... or a people person." I said bluntly.
"You could have fooled me." He said sarcastically.
"Mmm... so I wonder if and when everyone got back…" I said. He shrugged.
"I don't know. I didn't hear the door open. Then again, I wasn't really paying attention to that…" He smiled at me. I smiled back, but then groaned.
"Ugh, what time is it?" I asked sleepily. He looked over at my alarm clock.
"Seriously?" He laughed at this. "Ugh... well I better check to see who is up..." I stumbled out of bed, changed into jeans and a tee and walked into the kitchen. Watson and Donghae were drinking orange juice. I could see some of the guys up and watching the news. "Hey, how was your night?" I questioned them, as I got a cup out.
"Not that exciting. We got food and were back around 2:30. Paige, Rachel, Heechul, Kibum, and Eunhyuk crashed as soon as we got home, but the rest of us stayed up and watched movies till around 5:00. We only got three hours of sleep." Jessica explained. I poured myself a glass of juice while she told me this. Then she asked me, "How was your night?" I shrugged.
"I didn't get much sleep either." I told her honestly. I watched her giggle to herself.
“I see…” she started. “Why is that?" At that moment, Hangeng walked out of my room. Jessica and Donghae just started laughing.
"Hey man, rough night…?" Donghae asked him, snickering. He sat down next to me.
"Yeah... a bit…"
“A bit…? I could hardly focus on the movie…” Jessica started. “You guys were the whole reason we didn’t go to sleep right away! None of us wanted the awkwardness…”
“Hey! Hey! Shut it.” I glared at her.
"So anyways… do you guys know how long you’re gonna be staying here?" Jessica asked Hangeng and Donghae.
"We are planning on leaving tomorrow morning. That means we have all of today to spend with you ladies." Leeteuk explained from the couch. “We’re free to do whatever you girls wish.”
“Anything…?” Jessica asked. They all nodded. Jessica and I looked at each other and I could tell we immediately had the same idea. Throughout the many years we’ve known each other (about 18), Jessica and I may have gained a little ESP… yeah… we’re that cool.
We turned back to the guys and simultaneously shouted, “LASER TAG!” That’s when everyone that wasn’t already awake came out into the kitchen… except Heechul. What a lazy bum. I figured out that everyone who didn’t go to bed right away must’ve slept in the living room. The rest slept in the guest room. I also figured that I should not include Donghae, Leeteuk, and Henry… speaking of which…
“What’s the shouting about?” Rachel whined as she walked out, her head still resting on Henry’s shoulder.
"Did I hear laser tag?" asked Paige. Leeteuk got up and wrapped her in his arms. "You get up to early for me Teukkie..." He chuckled and she yawned.
"Ew..." I complained, looking at the scene. Paige slapped me playfully.
"You have no room to talk Alex, none at all." I rolled my eyes.
"Whatever. And when exactly did you two even get together?" I pointed to Henry and Rachel. They just shook their heads.
"So laser tag?" Paige asked everyone.
"Yup! Sounds like fun, right?" Jessica looked excited.
"It does..." agreed Rachel."Have you guys ever played before?"
Kangin replied, "We did once on a day off."
"That's good..." Paige started. "It won't take long to explain the rules then..."
"Alright! Let's go!" Jessica and I yelled happily, running out of the apartment. Yeah, we like laser tag...a lot. We all piled into Paige's orange van. Paige was driving; Leeteuk was sitting in the space between the driver's seat and the passenger's. You know what I'm talking about. How she managed to still drive, I don't know. Heechul decided to be a d-bag and call shotgun before I could. I kinda wanted to punch him in the face. In the second row was Henry with Rachel on his lap, which was kinda gross. Kibum, Ryeowook and Yesung somehow managed to all sit in the seat next to them. In the back row sat Hangeng, Zhou Mi, Siwon and me. In the trunk sat Jessica, Donghae, Kyu, Sungmin, Kangin and Eunhyuk....yeah it was a little cramped.
"Are you sure it's a good idea to have all of them back there?" Leeteuk asked concerned.
"Probably not... but it's not the stupidest thing we've ever done." I replied.
"Are you sure I won't get in trouble for this? Maybe we should take a second car..." Paige started.
"Paige! Shut up! This is awesome!" Jessica yelled back at her. I looked behind me, getting a clear view of the cramped scene. Jessica was in Donghae's arms, but I noticed that Kyu and Sungmin were looking at each other awkwardly. It also looked like Sungmin was... blushing.
"Hey Jessica..." I whispered into her ear.
"Yeah…?" "Is it just me, or does are Kyu and Sungmin looking at each other awkwardly? It also looks like Sungmin is blushing." She looked at the pair then turned back to me.
"You're right... they are staring. I wonder why?" I shrugged.
"Maybe they're in love!" Jessica glanced at them again then giggled.
"Yeah right!" I laughed with her.
"Yeah, you're right. If anyone in Super Junior is gay, it's probably Heechul..."
"Did I just hear my name?!" Heechul's loud girly voice asked.
"No! Turn back around Snow White!" I snapped.
"Uh... It's Cinderella, thank you very much!"
"Sorry." I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes. After what seemed like forever, we finally made it to the laser tag place. We divided into two teams. The purple team consisted of me, Jessica, Hangeng, Donghae, Sungmin, Kibum, Siwon, Kangin and Zhou Mi. The yellow team was Rachel, Paige, Leeteuk, Henry, Heechul, Kyuhyun, Eunhyuk, Yesung, and Ryeowook. While we were getting ready, I noticed Sungmin looked a little sad. "What's wrong Min?" I asked, a little concerned. He looked a little startled.
"Oh! Nothing... I just thought... that I would be on the same team as Kyu..." I raised my eyebrow, but before I could ask why he as upset over that, Jessica started shouting.
"ALL RIGHT! LET'S KICK THEIR BUTTS!"
*Two hours later*
"That was so much fun!" Sungmin said happily as we put the equipment away.
"Yeah, it was! But are you sure you're okay Min? You tripped and fell on Kyu really hard, and it looked painful." I questioned. I swear I saw him blush when I brought up the accident.
"Oh... oh yeah I'm totally fine!" He said, trying to laugh it off. I didn't buy it, but I was too tired to start asking questions. We all went to the car, dead tired. I felt bad for Paige, she had to stay up and drive. Everyone else fell asleep. When we got home, everyone stumbled into the apartment. Jessica ran up to me, looking scared.
"Watson, what is it?" I asked, wondering what was wrong.
"Alex...doesn't it seem like someone is missing?" I quickly knew what she was talking about. We searched all over the apartment, without any luck. Finally, Jessica and I screamed together.
"WHERE THE FUCK IS KIBUM!?"
